After successive transformations, the MegaOctet created in 1989 and directed by Andy Emler remains “
this laboratory of the most daring ideas”, as André Francis once described it.
This band is never where you expect them to be. Too turbulent,
too festive to be just a conventional mini jazz big band, and too virtuoso,
too extravagant to take on the role of top-of-the-range entertainment orchestra.

Andy Emler is a ‘drummer’ of multiple aesthetics, coupled with a singular, surprising and playful composer. A pleasure-sharer, he is accompanied by a tribe of talented acrobats and inspired improvisers, whom he showcases individually within a homogeneous orchestra bursting with energy, which, like other friendly projects, plays what its leader calls “lively European music from the beginning of the century”.
